The Missouri Society of Professional Engineers and Kansas Society of Professional Engineers are teaming up to launch the Government Engineers Leadership Program (GELP) in 2026. This program, exclusively offered to MSPE/KSPE members working in the government sector, is for individuals committed to developing their leadership abilities.
This program imparts specific skills and competencies utilizing highly interactive sessions taught by experts in the field of engineering, business administration, government affairs and people management in government and professional services firms. Program attendees will participate in structured professional development sessions, build their network through meaningful connections, and gain hands-on experience with guidance from industry mentors.

Burd Fletcher is located inside the GEOSPACE caves off Salsbury Road in Independence. GPS directions will not take you to the correct location – follow directions on following pages instead.
Traveling to Burd Fletcher - Attendees have 2 options, one to follow the instructions attached and drive to Burd Fletcher, sufficient parking is available near the front door. The other is to meet at Smokehouse BBQ and carpool to Burd Fletcher. Smokehouse is agreeable. Attendees make own arrangements to arrive at Burd Fletcher. Please meet in the Burd Fletcher lobby promptly at 3:00 PM.
PPE Required - Burd Fletcher will provide hairnets for the tour. No other PPE is required.
Cell Phones - While inside the caves, cell phones are inoperable.

Rob Gallup, PE, serves as an Engineering Specialist and has held various roles, including Lead Project Engineer, at Bartlett & West since May 2017. Responsibilities include designing transportation infrastructure such as curbs, roadways, and ADA-compliant sidewalks, developing conceptual plans with the use of Civil 3D and Microstation software, and conducting field checks for aerial Lidar survey accuracy. Prior to this, Rob served in the US Air Force Reserve from September 2014 to January 2022 as the Director of Operations for the 7th Security Forces Squadron, overseeing over 200 personnel and ensuring safety for high-profile events. Rob also has extensive experience in the United States Air Force, where roles included Director of Operations and Director of Logistics within Security Forces Squadrons, managing budgets, operations, and training programs. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Ben Ross, PE, PTOE earned his civil engineering degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1994. He came on as Civil Engineer in 1995 in Columbia, Missouri for Engineering Surveys & Services and joined MSPE where he later was MSPE State President from 2009 to 2010. He moved his work to Sedalia, Missouri when he became Branch Office Manager. He became Project Manager in 2005, and that same year he joined the board for Structural Assessment and Visual Evaluation (SAVE) Coalition that he still serves on today. He moved to his current position as Vice President in 2016, and he was a part of the Building Safety Assessment Team Working Group for FEMA from 2018 to 2019 and a board chair for Regional Economic Development, Inc. (REDI) from 2022 to 2023.
Everyone is invited to the annual Shrimp Feed sponsored by the Ozark Chapter of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers. The event will happen on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
This event welcomes Engineers, Surveyors, Architects, Contractors, Construction Suppliers, Students, and the public. The Shrimp Feed is the primary fundraiser for the Chapter, and the proceeds go toward funding Engineer’s Week activities, Bridge Contest, MathCounts, Ozarks Science and Engineering Fair (OSEF), and scholarships for local engineering students.
