Power Cable Sizing Flowchart – A Tool to Help Reinforce the State of Electrical Engineering Workforce
In the last decade the oil, gas and chemical industry has seen a decline in the electrical engineering ranks and knowledge base. Mr. Shenoy’s presentation will review the status of the electric power engineering workforce and the need for a flowchart to assist with cable sizing and will discuss an example of sizing cables.
This was presented at the IEEE 2023 Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee Technical Conference in New Orleans, LA.

Atul Arunkumar Shenoy P.E.: Senior Electrical Engineer – Burns & McDonnell
Bio: Mr. Shenoy graduated in 2014 from Manipal Institute of Technology, Kamataka, India with a BSEE, and in 2018 completed his MSEE from Texas A&M. He began his career at BMcD in their OGC Department in 2018. He is a registered PE in Texas.
Carles Miller P.E.: Electrical Department Manager – Burns & McDonnell
Bio: Mr. Miller received his BSEE from the University of Texas in 1981 and later an MBA From Texas A&M. Carles is currently the Electrical Department Manager for BMcD OGC global practice in Kansas City.
