Lobbying and Government Relations
Through constant vigilance, NSPE & MSPE monitors legislative
and governmental activities affecting engineering. Government
has an ever increasing involvement in the practice of engineering,
and consequently, your livelihood as an engineer. You have a voice
in the Legislature through MSPE & NSPE. MSPE speaks for all
engineers in Missouri. NSPE represents engineers on a national level.
Registration
MSPE was founded in 1937 to establish a registration law regulating
the licensure
of professional engineers. Our members still advocate strong
registration laws and promote registration to non-licensed engineers.
We believe that protecting public health, safety and welfare is
a primary concern for professional engineers.
Networking
In today's competitive environment, getting ahead often means
knowing people with similar interests. Membership in MSPE &
NSPE gives you the opportunity to make valuable personal and professional
contacts from all disciplines and management levels. Associating
with other professional engineers can strengthen your career.
Information
The society works hard to keep you up-to-date with our publications
The Missouri Engineer,
and NSPE's
Engineering Times. NSPE's site on the World Wide Web (www.nspe.org.)
provides valuable information on professional engineering and career
issues - news on the profession, career tips, job information, and
links to other valuable Web sites. Please feel free to communicate
with your chapter officers, state
officers or staff in the state
headquarters in Jefferson City by clicking.
Chapter, State, and National Meetings offer Education
Attend chapter and state
meetings for social and individual development opportunities.
Ten local chapters
are the foundation of the Society. It is at the local level that
engineers have the greatest opportunities for involvement and interaction
with other engineers. Chapters generally meet once a month for the
exchange and dissemination of information and the discussion, formulation
and presentation of programs to fulfill the society's objectives.
NSPE offers one national meeting a year, usually in July.
Ethics
The Society developed and adheres to a strong Engineer's Code of
Ethics. We established and encourage the standards of professionalism
that will set you apart from the crowd.
