About 20 members representing the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) and the American Council of Engineering Companies of Missouri (ACECMo) joined forces for the Professional Engineers Day at the Capitol Event held on March 3, 2010. Mark Rhoads of The Rhoads Company, LLC, lobbyist for both organizations, discussed this year’s legislative session and the protocol necessary when meeting with elected officials. Executive Director Bruce Wylie reviewed the society’s legislative priorities including amendments to the professional engineering licensure law (RSMO Chapter 327), a proposed sweep of funds from various state boards including the Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Landscape Architects, the Missouri STEM program and ethics reform in the legislature. Throughout the afternoon, members had an opportunity to meet with their legislators individually or attend group visits with House Speaker Representative Ron Richard, House Professional Registration Committee Chair Representative Jay Wasson, Senate Pro-Tem Senator Charlie Shields and Jobs, Economic Development and Local Government Committee Chair Senator John Griesheimer.
