MSPE’s 74th Annual Convention was praised as “a nice blend of society business meetings, professional development, networking opportunities and free time” from attendee evaluations of this year’s event held for the second year in a row at Camden on the Lake resort in Lake Ozark, Missouri.
Professional program sessions at this year’s event focused on the theme “Facing The Challenge” where speakers addressed how the professional engineering community is responding to today’s economic challenges. The diverse programs discussed leadership trends companies and organizations have adapted in order to continue to be successful, understanding future challenges and issues for water and energy, a lesson on bridge research conducted for MoDOT by Missouri’s engineering schools, and a technical program on the I-64 design-build project. Coupled with the PDH programs were “infomercials” on new products and services provided by those firms enrolling as exhibitors.
