2010-2011 Central Chapter Officers and Committee Chairs

The annual Columbia/Jefferson City MSPE Joint Chapter Meeting was held on March 23, 2010 at Tonanzio's in New Bloomfield.  The members enjoyed a great dinner and fellowship while listening to speaker, Brian Chandler, Transportation Engineer with SAIC.  Brian shared his challenges and rewards of his experiences in Traffic Safety, along with upcoming innovations in this ever changing profession. Central Chapter President, Rick Kaufmann, PE, introduces special guest speaker, State Senator Kurt Schaefer.  Sen. Schaefer gave a report on important legislative issues facing the Missouri Legislature this year and told the audience the best way to bring professional issues/concerns to legislators is through the focused voice of your professional organization.

MSPE State President, Ben Ross, PE, also gave a report on recent issues of concern that the MSPE Executive Committee is discussing.  He also told members that MSPE's Lobby Day was March 3rd and urged all to attend.

Chapter members enjoyed the evening of networking and information on professional engineering issues.

Tim Williams, CEO, Crown Linen Service, Mexico, MO, gave a personalized and fascinating tour of their Mexico facility to members of MSPE's Central and Northeast Chapters on October 22nd.  Arranged by MSPE Past President Kensey Russell, PE, Mexico Director of Public Works, the tour illustrated the engineering and modern technology needed to keep this 100 + year old company profitable and relevant for today's industry needs.  Think about the challenges facing a company with this type of commercial service: energy, water & wastewater, chemistry, logistics and freight/delivery to name a few.
Members concluded the evening with a dinner and joint meeting at the Audrain County Historical Society mansion.  MSPE Vice President, Britt Smith, PE attended to support Chapter Presidents Rick Kaufmann, PE, Central Chapter and Mike Purol, PE, Northeast Chapter.
